El Paso Burgers

1 medium onion (approx 1 cup), chopped
1 small green pepper (approx 1/2 cup), chopped
1 package (1.25 oz) taco seasoning mix
2 lbs ground beef
8 slices hot pepper cheese
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup chunky salsa

Finely chop onion and green pepper. Add onion, pepper, and taco seasoning mix to meat. Mix well. Divide meat into eight equal pieces. Form into patties. Grill or fry to desired doneness. Turn hamburger only once during cooking. Top with cheese, sour cream and salsa. Serve immediately on a hamburger bun. Patties may be formed, separated with parchment paper, and frozen for later use.
